The Swiss mathematician Jakob Bernoulli first proved many things we use in our blog: calculus, the constant e in compound interest and optimal stopping algorithm, and the law of large numbers.

Example.

  • I need to buy a new car. WHY? To keep my family safe WHY? Car crashes result in more lost years of potential life than anything else in Canada! This is because the average age of accident victims is much lower than victims of cancer & heart disease.  Serial exposure adds up to reduce your life expectancy since there is asymmetry in losing since however rare you deem an accident, it may be irreversible damage.  Driving a lot considerably reduces your life expectancy even though no single trip has a meaningful effect.
  • WHICH cars have 0 death rates and what can we learn from them. Of any cars with small death rates how many deaths were multi-vehicle accidents vs. single-vehicle accidents? The Audis A4, A6 and Q7  and Mazda CX-9 had 0 driver death rates, while the Mercedes-Benz GLK and Toyota Highlander had relatively low driver death rates.
  • First, compare the Viscous Criterion (m/s), second the  Head Injury Criterion (HIC-15), third the amount of cm by which the crush stopped short of the seat centerline, and fourth the  Max neck shear force (N) and seat sign parameters and intrusion cm which indicates the likelihood of injury arising from an impact from the NCAP, IIHS and NHTSA websites.

  • Yes, safe cars can be expensive but if you are doing it right, the real cost of driving should be the time wasted in the vehicle.  Design your life for efficiency and spend less time commuting, and free more energy for focused work. Efficient use of time and money involves strategic planning by scheduling every minute of every day.  Accountants are all about cost-cutting, but the truth is that it’s all worthless compared to the big 3: taxes, payroll, and housing. Build a scalablebusiness while optimizing your taxes and your mortgage interest. If you can’t afford a safe vehicle for your kids you should minimize the time they spend in a passenger vehicle and take public transportation and/or buy a work vehicle with before-tax dollars and make more money with one of these vehicles here.
